Gaps by Joseph R. Chiko with CLSN Pascal Verion 1 Though considered a purely mechanical game, it is very entertaining. Some liberties were taken with the rules to make the game more playable on a computer. Layout: The entire pack is laid out in four rows. The aces are removed and represent the GAPS in the row. Game play: The object of the game is to place all four rows into sequence from 2 through king. The card next highest in rank within suit can be moved into the gaps. If a gap is in the first position in a row it may only be filled with a deuce (2). No cards can to moved into the space(s) following a king. Redeals: In the original rules to this game only 1 redeal is permitted and all of the gaps immediately follow the cards which remained in sequence. This game allows any number of redeals, however, the gaps are placed ramdomly. Any game completed in less than six redeals can be considered above average. Computer input: The joystick or keyboard can be used to control the movement of the cursor which is the back of a card. Press return to have the computer search for and move the proper can into the gap. The cursor and its target card switch places on the move. When you move into a gap in the first position you are asked to press S, H, C, D or X. These are spades, hearts, clubs, diamonds or exit (do not move a 2 at this time) respectively. To request a redeal press R and to start a new game press N. In addition, if you have successfully completed the game and press return the computer will deal a new game automatically. As usuall I hope you enjoy this little diversion.
