To all beta testers
===================
Please don't write about new features of CAB beta versions in public
newsgroups. Better don't mention CAB beta versions at all. Thanks.

======= 31.08.1999 ========================================================

- Bugfix: CAB didn't save the new entries of the list "never accept" in the
  cookies dialog unless the list was scrolled.

- CAB is now able to read all of the c't CDs. The latest release of the
  c't CD won^t work with older versions of CAB because some of the needed
  files were missing. Now CAB uses some other files. Instead of the file
  CT*.DAT the file VSDAT.HTM must be installed in the paths dialog now.

======= 09.01.1999 ========================================================

- Bugfix: very large URLs were shortened in certain circumstances.

- Bugfix: Clicking in an area outside of an alertbox could crash CAB.

- Bugfix: In forms CAB didn't use the correct default value
  for checkboxes if the value was not mentioned in the HTML source.

======= 28.11.1998 ========================================================

- Bugfix: CAB converted umlaut characters in URLs into the Atari charset
  with the result that the web server can't find the path or file.

- Bugfix: In mono resolutions images are no longer redrawn correctly after
  reloading the page (and if the images are still in the image cache).

- Now CAB should always bring the browser window to front, if you
  open an entry in the hotlist.

======= 25.09.1998 ========================================================

- Bugfix: CAB crashed when clicking between the buttons of the browser
  window.

- Bugfix: CAB crashed when clicking in certain areas of frame borders.

- Bugfix: CAB crashed when opening the history popup and one (or some)
  of the docs in the history has an empty title.

- Now, CAB also accepts DOS/TOS path separator "\" in URLs.

======= 20.09.1998 ========================================================

- Bugfix: CAB crashed if submitting a form failed and the user clicked into
  a browser window instead of closing the "transaction failed" alert.

- "Reload" will also automatically establish a connection (PPP-Connect) if
  this option is switched on.

- Bugfix: When printing CAB should no longer get any data from the net.

- CAB now supports HTML forms submitted to an email address using the
  "text/plain" enconding. Example:
  <FORM ACTION="mailto:a@b.com" ENCTYPE="text/plain" METHOD="post">
  This means the FORM content is formatted so it is readable to a
  human recipient.

- Bugfix: Drag&Drop of URLs of one browser window into another will
  work now.

- Bugfix: Under SingleTOS CAB didn't close the hotlist window when
  starting external programs. This could cause crashes.

======= 11.09.1998 ========================================================

- Bugfix: Errors in table definitions could cause crashes in certain
  situations. These crashes were very rare, and unfortunately very difficult
  to find because the crash could avoided if you change the HTML code
  for example by removing a single space in the ALT attribute of an IMG tag
  (which seems to have nothing to do with the table).

- larger stack in CABalog.

- Bugfix: Redirection could cause crashes in "Hotlist checker" module.

- Bugfix: "Hotlist checker", "AutoSurf" and "Download" did use a wrong
  index to an array.

- Bugfix: Popup menues (SELECT/OPTION) in HTML forms with hundreds of
  entries could crash.

- Bugfix: SHIFT-clicking on a link like <A HREF="xyz" TARGET="_blank">
  did open two windows instead of only one.

- Bugfix: When printing a page with multiple instances of the same image
  only the first of these images was printed correct

- Bugfix: In nested tables with missing <TR> and <TD> tags CAB was not
  always able to render the content of the table.

- Bugfix: If the text between <NOBR>...</NOBR> is moved to the next line
  because it doesn't fit in the current, it could happen that CAB
  installed a horizontal slider even if there's not slider needed.

======= 11.06.1998 ========================================================

- Only minor changes and a new expire date.

======= 11.06.1998 ========================================================

- Bugfix: XBM images should now work again.

- Bugfix: Now, CAB only uses a cookie, if it is switched on.

- Bugfix: Now, CAB overwrites a cookie, if a new one with the same
  name/domain/path arrives.

- Doubleclick on a cookie (cookie dialog) opens a dialog with more
  detailed information.

- Bugfix: D&D of a link with ALT-click into the hotlist will no longer
  add LF (ASCII 10) at the end of the url.

- CAB is able to read the "web archives" created by Internet Exporer 4.x
  (Macintosh version) and the cache file (cache.waf) of Internet
  Explorer 4.x (Mac version).

  Both can be loaded in CAB using "open local" (Fileselector) or when
  dragging these file in a CAB window.

  CAB moves all the contents of these files into its own cache so you can
  navigate as usual. CAB will automatically display the first page it
  find in those files.

======= 16.05.1998 ========================================================

- Small changes in ID4-OLGA support.

- white spaces (space, CR, LF, TAB) at the end of an URL (in HREF=...)
  will be ignored now.

- Bugix: The demo version no longer opens the hotlist (the hotlist
  doesn't exist in the demo) if the CAB.INF contains an entry to
  open the hotlist at startup.

- Some new functions in the JS-API (only interesting for two of you ;-)

======= 08.05.1998 ========================================================

- I've compiled a demo version of CAB 2.7 (CAB_DEMO.APP).
  The restrictions are: no hotlist, waiting for a dialog, the modules
  could be called only two times.

- The last remaining dialog (Cookies) prepared for proportional
  system fonts.

- It's now possible to drag the links on a Web page to other windows
  (for example the hotlist) or other applications (for example qed)
  using the D&D protocol. Press the ALT key before dragging, to
  prevent that CAB loads and displays the link.

- Bugfix: "Reload" should work now with images (even online)

- Small bugfixes in table formatting.

======= 24.04.1998 ========================================================

- "Work around" for a bug in the PurePascal compiler implemented.

- Nuew option for saving the background image (in the popup which
  opens if you click on the background)

- Some small bugs fixed in table formatting routines

- Bugfix: AutoSurf now ignores the "#text" part of an URL

- Passwords are now not visible when entered.

- Under MagiC it is now possible to set the cursor with the mouse in all
  editfields in dialog boxes.

- D&D of text like "www.blahfasel.com" on a browser window will be
  now expanded to "http://www.blahfasel.com" instead of
  "file://localhost/www.blahfasel.com"

- Bugfix: When opening the Hotlist window CAB checks if it will be visible.
  If it's outside the screen it will be moved inside.

- Bugfix: Serverside image maps (ismap) should work again

- CAB will remeber the the last save path (save as...). (don't forget to
  save the options).

- CAB will ignore some spaces in the wrong place in URLs (like the
  spaces in "mailto:  name@abc.com").

======= 16.03.1998 ========================================================

- If the target of a link doesn't exist a new window is used.

- Drag&Drop of the type 'URLS' will also transport the title of the
  link/doc. It is now possible to exchange hotlist entries with
  Fiffi (URL and title/remark)

- Saving the cache data structures (CACHE.CAB) should be faster now.

- The history of previous loaded documents will be displayed with the
  document title instead of the URL now.

- If CAB opened a window where the content is not yet downloaded
  the window was not redrawn properly. Now it is filled with
  white.

======= 12.02.1998 ========================================================

- Drag&Drop of URLs to the "Trash" icon or "Clipboard" icon of the
  desktop deletes the URL or makes a copy of the URL in the clipboard.
  Works only if the desktop supports this (like the latest beta of Jinnee).

- Bugfix: In something like <META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="123456">
  it could happen, that the time was not correctly calculated (overflow of
  a variable)

- Bugfix: '<OPTION VALUE="value">blahfasel'. If the "value" string
  was longer than the "blahfasel" string CAB truncated the value string.
  This should be corrected now..

- To Jrgen Koneczny:
  Using the Drag&Drop protocol CAB now supports the type 'URLS' in addition
  to '.TXT'

- To Thomas Much:
  The "JS-Log" window can be opened with [ALT][J]. The current
  definition of the JS-Interface can be found in the file "JS.PAS".

======= 24.01.1998 ========================================================

- CABCache: CABCache truncates filenames itself to 32 characters when
  copying. Unfortunately the MagiCMac-GEMDOS doesn't do this on
  Mac filesystems (no problem on (V)FAT filesysstems) but returns with
  an error.

- Bugfix: CAB did automatically connect to the internet (using PPP-Connect)
  even with local links (file://localhost/).

- CAB now supports the new HelpDaemon of the latest BubbleGEM beta
  (the help bubbles appear automatically).

- CAB is able to load the new "WebAchive" file format of Internet Explorer 4
  (Mac version). Of course only, if IE4 saved this file correct. IE4 semms to
  fail always on local files :-(
  BTW: If someone knows where to find the specification of this format,
  please let me know.

- Bugfix: Searching keywords with Umlaut characters in the current Window
  failed.

======= 03.01.1998 ========================================================

- CAB is now able to connect automatically, if the URL is not in
  the cache. This works only with the latest version of PPP-Connect.
  This can be configured in the general options dialog. You have
  to install 'ICONFSET.CGF' for 'ICONNECT.PRG' in the desktop to
  use this feature.

- Bugfix: Missing quotes (like <font size="2>Text</font>) at the
  end of the html file could crash CAB.

- Bugfix: The proxy info of the CAB server/proxy dialog was set to
  null. Now it has the correct value again.

- Bugfix in Cache module: Some characters whcih are illegal in file names
  (for example '?') were sometimes used.

======= 22.12.1997 ========================================================

- New GEM-Script Command:
    SENDMAIL url [subject [file]] Sends a mail.

    url: address of the recipient (mailto:name@domain.com)
    subject: The subject of the mail (optional)
    file: File which contains the whole text for the mail (optional)
          If empty, the user must enter the text now.

- Neil Jones-Rodway added new monochrome icons in CABICONS.RSC.
  Joe Connor also manipulated Neil's icons, you'll find his suggestion
  in FORM35.RSC (contains only one tree with the icons for the browser
  window).

- Bugfix in Cache modul: While copying files, all characters which are not
  allowed in filenames are filtered out.

- More feedback while startup. CAB tells, what's currently initialized.

======= 11.12.1997 ========================================================

- Bugfix: If the 'domain' parameter was missing (set_cookie() call) CAB
  generated a false domain, so it didn't find the cookie for this
  domain later.

- I've removed the borders of the buttons in the browser and hotlist
  window (suggested by Neil Jones-Rodway).

- Some new icons (by Neil Jones-Rodway): CABICONS.RSC
  To use these icons replace the last three trees in CAB.RSC with
  the three trees in CABICONS.RSC (using a RSC-editor).

- I moved all the strings and alert strings of CAB.RSC to the
  file CAB.RST. CAB.RST can be placed in the modules folder or
  in the CAB folder.

- Bugfix: <BR>s at the very beginning of a page were ignored.

- It is now possible to top the hotlist window when clicking inside
  the window (MagiC, NAES, MTOS, Geneva), but the window remains
  usable in the background. Therefore you need two clicks inside
  the window to top it. The first is for selecting the entry, the
  second for topping (only if you don't move the mouse over another
  entry, of course). This is similar to the jinnee behaviour with
  certain settings.

======= 01.12.1997 ========================================================

There was an error in "modules.h". Here is the correction:
typedef struct{
  void ___CDECL (*restore)(void);
  long ___CDECL (*get_url)(char *url, char *filename);
  long ___CDECL (*get_url_info)(char *url, long *time, long *size, char *mime);
  void ___CDECL (*get_version)(char **author, long *version, long *date);
  long ___CDECL (*post)(char *url, char *content, char *enctype, char *filename);
  long ___CDECL (*mailto)(char *url, char *subject, char *filename);
  long ___CDECL (*get_url_if_modified)(char *url, char *filename, long *time);
/* --- new since CAB 2.7 ---*/
  long ___CDECL (*get_url_cookie)(char *url, char *filename, char *cookie);
  long ___CDECL (*get_url_ifmod_cookie)(char *url, char *filename, long *time, char *cookie);
  long ___CDECL (*post_cookie)(char *url, char *content, char *enctype, char *filename, char *cookie);
  long reserved[3];
} url_methods_t;

======= 30.11.1997 ========================================================

- Now, CAB supports "Netscape"-cookies. But it needs some help from
  the CAB.OVL. So, until the existing OVLs are not updated you can't
  test this new feature. (I can't either, so I'm not sure if it works)
  I've included the docs for the interface between CAB and CAB.OVL
  so all authors of CAB.OVLs can update their OVLs. Pleas tell me if
  something is missing.

======= 21.11.1997 ========================================================

- A certain GIF animation (probably created to crash Netscape Navigator),
  was not displayed correct in CAB (but without crash ;-). Now it
  should work.
  Please test all GIF animations you can find, to make sure there no
  new bugs...

- some bugfixes.

======= 12.11.1997 ========================================================

- If there's no cache folder defined in CAB, but CAB finds a
  folder named "cache" in the CAB folder, it uses this folder for
  the cache.

- Bugfix: Iconified windows of CAB modules didn't use the proper
  rectangles for redraw.

- The "censored" image (advertising filter) can be replaced by
  any GIF image you like. The new "censored" image must be
  placed as "cabcom.gif" inside the "modules" folder, that's all.

======= 09.11.1997 ========================================================

- <META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="25"> reloads the current page after
  25 seconds. In general there should be the definition of an URL in the
  CONTENT section.

- New submenu "File"/"Internet clients". This can be used to start
  all installed ("Options"/"Internet clients") internet clients from CAB.

- The "Hotlist Checker" module now checks only the entries which are
  "subscribed". To subscribe/unsubscribe an entry click on the "sub"
  icon of the entry.

- In the dialog "General Options" you can set the font and the font size
  for the hotlist window. You can also switch on/off the confirmation
  for deleting entries.

- The hotlist icons are now aligned the same way as the icons in a
  browser window.

--03.11.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- new keyboard shortcuts in Hotlist window:
  - Cursor up/down: select entry
  - Cursor left/right: open/close topic
  - CTRL > and CTRL <: open/close all topics

- Bugfix: D&D with unknown datatypes should no longer crash.

- CAB supports the following datatypes for D&D: ^URLS', 'ARGS',
  '.TXT', '.ASC'

- Printing: It's now possible to define a special font size for printing

--25.10.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- CAB supports the environment variable GEMJINGPATH. This variable
  contains the full path (including filename) of the sound player
  (usually GEMJing). If this variable is set, CAB will find GEMJing
  even if it is not set in CAB itself.

- Workaround for false HTML tables (missing <TR>)t.

- Hotlist rewritten. Please test the new hotlist (and make a backup of
  your old hotlist.html file first, please)
  - Click onto the triangles (or doubleclick on a topic) opens/closes
    a topic.
  - Entries can be selected by a single click (with/without SHIFT, as usual)
  - All actions will affect all of the selected entries.
  - While moving entries inside the hotlist, a dotted line will show
    where the entries will be inserted if you release the mouse button.
  - The entries can be moved to other windows or the desktop as well.
    If the target application supports this it will accept the URLs.
    For example qed would insert all URLs in the text.
    If you drag an entry in a browser window CAB will display the
    document in this window. If you drag several entries together,
    CAB will open new windows for all these entries.
  - You can also drag the "URL" button of a browser window into the
    hotlist. It will be included at the point where you released the
    mouse botton.
  - Keyboard shortcuts:
    Return (Button "Open"): Displays all selected entries.
    Tab (Button "Edit"): Opens a dialog to edit the entries.
    ^T (Button "Topic"): Creates a new topic.
    ^H (Button "Doc>Hot"): Inserts the current URL into the hotlist
    ALT-I (Button "Import"): Import of Hotlist (CAB), Bookmarks
                              (Netscape), Favorites (IE).
    ALT-N (Button "New"): Inserts a new Entry.
    ^D (Button "Delete"): Deletes the selected entries.

- CAB supports the GEMScript protocol. The following commands are supported:
   - OPEN url
   - CLOSE [url]
   - NEW
   - PRINT [url]
   - QUIT
   - TOFRONT url
   - SAVE [url]
   - (SAVEAS url file)
   - BOOKMARKNEWTOPIC topic
   - BOOKMARKNEWENTRY topic url title remarks

--30.09.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- Under MagiC, MagiC itself underlines the character in dialog boxes
  for the keyboard shortcuts. This way the correct character is
  underlined if a proportional system font is used.

- The URL which is entered in "Open URL" is now expanded automatically.
  Examples: "apple" is expanded to "http://www.apple.com/"
             "apple.de"   is expanded to  "http://www.apple.de/"
  CAB doesn't change the entered URL if it starts with a protocol
  (http, ftp, mailto, etc) or if it contains a path or filename.
  If you want to be sure that CAB doesn't expand the URL just type
  the complete URL with protocol and/or path/file.

--24.08.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- CAB now supports the "document history" protocol (with SMU 7.01 as server)

- Loading the cache database should be faster now.

- New option in "font" dialog: "ISO=>Atari mapping".
  Now you can switch off the character mapping if you already use special
  ISO fonts (or if you use greek or russian fonts). This option affects
  all fonts. Normally this option should be switched on (using Atari
  or normal TrueType and Speedo fonts).

--14.08.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- New module "Advertising filter"
  This module is able to filter out advertising images and animations.
  Of course it is impossible to have 100% success but the result should
  be good enough. You can switch it off, if you really like those
  advertising images ;-)

  The module checks for the size of the image (if it is given in the
  HTML file, otherwise CAB can't ignore the image because it has to
  download the image to get the size). If the size is one of the
  "hot" ones, it just ignores the image. Because many advertising
  images have standard sizes nowadays you'll find many of those
  images this way.

  The other way the module tries to find these images is to check
  the host, path or filename of the image. For example if the
  host is "ad.doubleclick.net" you can be sure to get an advertising.
  And on many servers these images are stored in a folder "Banners",
  so looking for such folders will be a good idea, too.

  CAB can completely ignore these images or it could display a
  special image instead, so you'll see where these advertising images
  are filtered out.

- You'll need the new CAB version to use this module.

--04.08.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- Bugfix: www.iflowers.com should worl now.

- Now, CAB uses the NVDI (next version) colour table. If you use this
  colour table (which is also used by the new desktop "jinnee") there
  will be no more colour changes when topping/untopping CAB windows.

--01.08.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- Bugfixes in FORMs.

- In the hotlist, it's now possible to remove all entries of the "Misc."-
  theme ("delete all").

- Bugfix: The links of image maps are now available in the links popup.

- "AutoSurf" and "Download": displays "Bytes/sec"

- CAB Cache: When going back in the folder hierarchie, the content of the
  folder is scrolled to the previous position.

- Bugfix in CAB Cache: Not all files were shown.

- Small changes in tables.

- SHIFT-Cursor left/right moves the cursor to the beginning/end of
  edit objects in dialogs.

- Control-Cursor up/down scrolls the window one page up/down. Some
  PC keyboards for ST/Falcon use these codes for the page up/down keys.

- Bugfix: Problems with '+' in URLs fixed.

Hinweis fr Thomas Much: Das JS-Interface ist vorhanden.

--22.07.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- Bugfix in FORMs

- Bugfix: in some cases not all entries of the cache were visible
  in the cache module.

--12.07.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- Bugfix: Relative paths like "/../bild.gif" (the "parent" directory of
  the root directory) will be now treated as "/bild.gif" (www.ssolutions.com).

- Bugfix: The default viewer will be no longer called for files with no
  extension (like many result pages of FORMs).

- Some small bugfixes in CAB Cache modul

- Bugfix: In the error message 'Read error in file @' the file name
  is now inserted.

--06.07.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- Bugfix in importing Favorites.html (Internet Explorer bookmarks).

- New Module "CAB Cache": With this module you can navigate in the cache
  in the same way you navigate in the fileselector. In the "root directory"
  you'll find all the hosts. Doubleclick on a host or folder opens it,
  doubleclick on a file will display it in a new CAB window. A click on
  a folder or file selects the file. If you also press the SHIFT key, you
  can add/remove the file to the already selected files/folders. Selected
  files/folders can be copied, moved or deleted.

- Bugfix in tables.

- Fonts: CAB tries to find suitable fonts if the selected fonts are no longer
  available (or if CAB.INF does not exist). This works if NVDI >3.2 is used.
  Under MagiCPC (Windows/PC) or MagiCMac (Macintosh) and probably other
  emulators as well, you can use the fonts of the native OS in Atari programs
  too. But Windows and MacOS use different fonts by default. CAB now also tries
  too find fonts which are usually used under Windows and MacOS. New users
  of CAB probably don't need to set any new fonts, because CAB already uses
  the right ones.

  The following font families is searched for:

  Headings:
    Swiss 721, Arial (Windows/PC), Helvetica (Mac), Franklin Gothic

  Normal text:
    Dutch 801, Times New Roman (PC), Times Roman (Mac), Baskerville

  Preformatted text:
    Letter Gothic 12 pitch, Courier New (PC), Courier (Mac), Monaco Mono

--02.07.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- All module should terminate now, if CAB is terminated.

- Bugfix: CAB didn't convert '\' into '/' when opening a file with
  the file selector.

- When reloading a page (OLGA update or 'Reload' botton) CAB displays
  the page at the old position now.

--30.06.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- Bugfix in CABdload, CABcheck, CABsurf: proxy array not initialized.

- Bugfix in CAB: Forms with POST should work now (I hope so).

--26.06.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- Bugfix: if spaces and tabulators were mixed inside <PRE> </PRE>
  the output was not correct.

- CAB now always calls the get_url_if_modified() function first if
  implemented by the OVL, even if the file is not in the cache.

- Bugfix in CABcheck module. It should no longer crash under Multitos
  (Thanks to Martin-Eric Racine for all the special tests)

--23.06.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- New Module AutoSurf. The module is able to download whole trees of WWW
  pages. All pages are stored in the cache and can be viewed offline later
  (if the CAB.OVL does allow this, otherwise you have to disable the CAB.OVL
  temporarily). AutoSurf works only under multitasking (a Multi-AES is also
  needed: for example MTOS, MagiC, N.AES), SingleTOS doesn't work.

- Bugfixes in FORMs, CGI

- New feature in hotlist dialog. It is now possible to import
   + other CAB hotlist.html files
   + Netscape Navigator Bookmarks.html files
   + Internet Explorer Favorites.html files

- Bugfix (CABcheck): If only remote links were checked, all local files
  were marked as 'missing'.

- Bugfix: Something like <TAG ATTRIBUT="<BLAH>fasel</BLAH>"> should no
  longer cause problems.

- New options in 'Open URL' dialog. You can now select the default URL
  in the dialog: no URL, URL of the current file, the URL which was
  selected the last time the dialog was opened.

- Small bugfixes in CABalog, CABcheck, CABdload, CAB.

--17.06.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- New HTML tag:
    <LINK REL=toc|index|prev|next|first|last|... HREF=url>
    <LINK REV=made HREF=url>
  The LINK tag is part of HTML 3.2. It is not supported by Netscape
  Navigator or MS Internet Explorer, and therefore it's used only on
  a very small number of pages. If it's used, a new icon appears in
  the toolbar. A click on the icon openes a popup menu with some buttons.
  These buttons represent the links of the LINK tags.
  I'm still looking for a good (better) icon for the toolbar. If you've
  got any ideas, please tell me.

- Some bugfixes for online access (CAB.OVL)

--13.06.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- Bugfix in get_url_if_modified() fixed. CAB expected the time as long
  parameter instead of a pointer to a long. Now CAB expects a pointer
  to a long for the time (as described in the docs).u

--12.06.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- It is now possible to save the images. Right click onto the image
  opens a popup where you can save the image.
- Bugfix: If the file is already in the cache, CAB doesn't try to find
  out if the file has changed on the server. Now CAB will do it again.
- Bugfix: A bug fixed in link handling (could crash).
- Bugfix in saving the hotlist file (CAB and CABcheck).

--06.06.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- New module CABstega. The module can be used to hide small messages
  in HTML files (invisible) without changing the size of the file.
  This module is meant as a small demonstration about steganography
  (is this the correct english word??). Most other programs hide data
  in image or sound files, but this is also possible for HTML files.
  Of course, you'll see the difference if you compare the original file
  with the new file. But if you don't know the original file you'll
  probably not expect that something is hidden in the file.

  When started out of CAB, the module will load the current file of CAB
  and displays the hidden message. To select other HTML files just click
  in the 'HTML file' box. It's also possible to change and save the
  message. The module also works without CAB.

  BTW: There's a hidden message in the file CABCOLOR.HTM

- CAB Check: New option to show a list with all changed or missing pages.
  Double click onto an entry opens the page in CAB.

- Some internal improvements in all modules.

Please tell me if one or more of the modules (still) crash under certain
circumstances (please give me detailed information about runtime errors,
bombs, TOS version, computer, RAM, etc.)

--26.05.97-------------------------------------------------------------

- New module CABcheck. This module checks if the hotlist entries are
  still valid and if the pages have changed. Invalid entries (the pages
  can't be accessed) are displayed in red in the hotlist dialog (and with
  leading '***' for monochrome screen resolutions). Invalid and changed
  pages are marked with small images if the hotlist is displayed as normal
  HTML file. These images will be removed after some days (the number of
  days can be entered in the dialog), so you won't see the 'new' imaged
  forever.
  The module does not remove invalid entries. There're many reasons why
  some pages can't be accessed (server is down, connection too slow,
  the pages do not exist), so it's better to check these entries later
  again.
  While the module checks the hotlist it is not possible to change the
  hotlist in CAB.

- Please rename the files 'cabalog.inf' and 'cabdload.inf' to
  'cabalog.mdl' and 'cabdload.mdl'. The new versions of CAB, CABalog
  and CABdload are looking for the new names.

- CAB now supports the SH_CHANGED message (changing the slider colours)

- To all programmers of CAB.OVL modules! There's a small improvement in
  the interface between CAB and the OVL.

	=======================================================================
	long (*aes_events)(long msec)
	-----------------------------
	CAB.APP makes an evnt_multi() call to set MU_MESAG, MU_TIMER and MU_KEYBD.
	'msec' is set as the value for the timer-event. Setting a low value for
	'msec' means the function is turned around faster. CAB.APP currently
	processes all separate events (e.g. redraw, move window..) and checks
	whether the user wishes to cancel the action. This function returns the
	following results:

	    0 -> no MU_MESAG or MU_KEYBD event (continue with download)
	   -1 -> abort action (e.g. Internet connection, download)
	   all other -> pointer to GEM message array (int msg[8])

	If CAB returns a pointer to a GEM message array the OVL is able to react
	to the AES event. The array is filled with the values the evnt_multi()
	call returned (ev_mmgpbuff). Keypresses are passed as VA_SENDKEY messages:

	msg[0]=$4710  (VA_SENDKEY)
	msg[1]=apID   (the ID of CAB.APP)
	msg[2]=0
	msg[3]=keyboard state of SHIFT/CTRL/ALT (ev_mmokstate from evnt_multi)
	msg[4]=scancode (ev_mkreturn from evnt_multi)
	msg[5]=0
	msg[6]=0
	msg[7]=0

	This way the CAB.OVL is able to react to message events and keypresses
	and it doesn't need to call evnt_multi/evnt_mesag/evnt_keybd itself.

--12.05.97-------------------------------------------------------------

CABalog:

- You can define the title of the HTML pages.

CAB:

- Bugfix: When enlarging a frame it could happen that CAB does't recognise
  some of the links in the new area.

- UNDO for "Back" works again.

- Popup with all links of a page is now implemented again.

- CAB now saves the WDIALOG printer settings ('save options').

--05.05.97-------------------------------------------------------------

CABDLOAD:

- Now displays also the file size (if available).

- Bugfix: Redraw should work now while downloading.

CAB:

- Bugfix: CAB doesn't crash when loading the hotlist if there are empty
  URLs in the hotlist like <a href=""></a>.

- Now CAB tries to recognize incorrect comments like <!-- > as well.

- Bugfix for certain GIF animations

- Bugfix: When a page with frames was loaded into a frame where
  a normal document was displayed first, CAB crashed.

- It's now possible to change the size of individual frames. Click on
  the frame border and move it to the new position.

--27.04.97-------------------------------------------------------------

Please use the 'old' modules folder. These modules are still the same.

What's new?

- Bugfix: Some small memory blocks were never released.

- It's now possible to scroll the window even if a dialog is displayed.

- Bugfix: Some problems with graphic cards and 68000 processors solved.

- The toolbar can be displayed at the top of the window or at the left
  side (see "general options" dialog). Optional the text, the icon or
  both is displayed.

- You can change the size of the sliders (general options). If the sliders
  are too large on your computer you can now set a smaller size.

- Bugfix: Going back in the history didn't work in some situations.

- Bugfix: mailto: and news: links should work again with external mail/news
  programs

--21.04.97-------------------------------------------------------------

What's new?

- A right click on a link opens a new popup menu. Here you can open the link
  in the same or in a new window. You can also copy the URL of the link to
  the hotlist and to the clipboard. With additional modules in the "modules"
  folder the popup can be expanded (multitasking recommended for this feature).

  An example module is CABDLOAD.APP. This module downloads a file. It runs
  in parallel to CAB in a multitasking system, so CAB is not blocked.
  The module is only available for non-local links and should be used for
  downloading large binary files (like LZH or ZIP archives). CABDLOAD and
  all its files should be copied into the 'modules' folder. It uses the same
  CAB.OVL module as CAB itself so CAB.OVL should be located in the 'modules'
  folder as well. The Download module can be started from the new popup menu
  mentioned above. Press the right mouse button until the popup opens while
  the mouse is over a link. The last entry of the popup should be 'Download'.

- CAB needs less memory for the hotlist.

- Atari programs (PRG, APP, TOS, TTP) as target of a link are only
  started if it's a local link (file://localhost/path/prog).

- Instead of the "Cache tool" menu entry there's now a "Modules" menu
  entry. All applications (cache_ed.prg and all .app's and .prg's) in
  the modules folder can be selected in a submenu which is attached
  to this menu entry. Submenus will work under multitasking (MagiC, MTOS,
  N.AES etc.) and Falcon TOS. Under older TOS versions the submenu will
  appear as popup after selecting the menu entry (multitasking recommended
  for this feature).

- The module CABalog creates image catalogs. It searches for GIF and
  JPEG images in a specified directory (optional with all subdirectories)
  and creates a catalog in HTML format. To start the module select the
  'Image catalog' menu entry of the 'Modules' submenu. BubbleGEM help
  is also available.
  CABALOG and all its files should be copied into the 'modules' folder.
  CABalog uses the CAB_JPEG.OVL module so this file should also placed
  inside the 'modules' folder. To create thumbnail images I've added some
  routines for saving JPEG images to CAB_JPEG.OVL. The new JPEG.OVL can
  be also used by CAB so you don't need the old one. (CABalog will work
  with the old CAB.OVL, too. But because of the missing routines for
  saving JPEG images, creating thumbnails is disabled then).

--15.04.97-------------------------------------------------------------

What's new?

- Now, CAB uses the same editor for "write mail" and for "view source".
  Use the additional checkbox in the "external viewers" dialog to use
  the editor for "view source". If the checkbox is switched off CAB
  shows the source itself.
- Bugfix: Now, <BASE TARGET=...> works as expected.
- Bugfix: No more forgotten spaces in form popups and listboxes.
- Bugfix: OLE_EXIT (OLGA protocol)
- Please test "cgi-bin" links again.

--06.04.97-------------------------------------------------------------

What's new?

- Bugfix: Now, CAB looks if a background image is present. If yes
  CAB doesn't try to change the defined colours if these would result
  in unreadable text (for example white text on white background).
- Bugfix: No more crashes, when <TR> tags are missing in tables.
- Bugfix: CAB doesn't try to load a file with an empty URL in
  <META http-equiv=refresh content="; URL=">.
- <EMBED SRC=sound.wav LOOP=TRUE|FALSE> supported. This is the way
  Netscape supports background music (this is similar to <BGSOUND>
  which is supported by Internet Explorer.
- The source button will be disabled if the source of the file is already
  displayed or if the file is an image (and therefore no source can
  be shown).
- Bugfix: You can select buttons which are disabled.
- Bugfix: Using the WDIALOG system extension it's possible to set the
  first and last page for printing. Old versions of CAB always printed
  the very last page, even if the user didn't want this page.
- Bugfix: It's now possible to print all the embedded objects (ID4-OLGA
  protocol).
- Bugfix in <INPUT type=hidden>.
- CAB needs less memory while image decoding and dithering.

--24.03.97-------------------------------------------------------------

What's new?

- Bugfix: cgi-bin should work (hopefully).
- Bugfix in tables
- some minor bugfixes.

--18.03.97-------------------------------------------------------------

What's new?

- Bugfix in colour icon handling (caused 3 bombs under certain TOS
  versions)

--17.03.97-------------------------------------------------------------

What's new?

- 'Save as...'
- Bugfix in <SPACER>
- Bugfix: No problems when </SELECT> is missing.
- Bugfix in <CAPTION>
- Another bugfix in <FORM>

--13.03.97-------------------------------------------------------------

What's new?

- Bugfix: Hopefully, printing works again under plain TOS.
- Bugfix: Now the correct font is used for <Q> </Q>
- Bugfix: CAB will accept a URL as parameter.
- Bugfix: Another <FORM> bug fixed.
- Bugfix: Image bug (online) should be fixed again.
- Bugfix in CAB_JPEG.OVL.

--11.03.97-------------------------------------------------------------

What's new?

- Bugfix: When a GIF animation is scrolled so that it lies under the
  toolbar, CAB no longer redraws the toolbar for each image of the
  animation.
- Bugfix: Keyboard shortcuts for scrolling will now work while formatting
  the text.
- Bugfix: The JPEG.OVL doesn't print error messages on the screen.
- Bugfix: in ST-Mid the coordinates in image maps should be correct now.
- The "URL" button at the right of the toolbar can be moved to windows of
  other applications. The URL is inserted in this window using the MTOS
  Drag&Drop protocol. If the OS doesn't support Drag&Drop, the URL can be
  copied into the clipboard. A click on this button (not dragging) also
  copies the URL into the clipboard.
- Bugfix in finding the OLGA manager.
- Bugfix: ESC key (same as STOP-Button) works again.
- Bugfix: Some form results were shown only after reloading the page, it
  should now work without reloading (don't know if it works, please test!)
- Bugfix: <FORM ACTION="mailto:user@address"> should work again. Please test.
- Bugfix in <nobr>...</nobr>
- New version of GEMJing included.

--03.03.97-------------------------------------------------------------

What's new?

- Faster image dithering under NVDI >=3.x (or EdDI >=1.0).
- Bugfix: The last beta displayed the source of some HTML files
  instead of formatting them.
- Please tell me, if there're problems with the JPEG.OVL?
- GEMJing (by Gtz Hoffart) included. It's still Beta, so don't give it
  to someone else. GEMJing plays WAV, DVS (uncompressed), AU/SND (at the
  moment only 8/16 Bit linear) on ST/STe/TT/Falcon/Macintosh (under MagicMac).

  Installing GEMJing:
  - Open the dialog 'external viewers'
  - Enter the correct path of GEMJING.PRG in the GEMJing box.
    Now, CAB calls GEMJing for the HTML tags
      <BGSOUND SRC=soundfile LOOP=INFINITE|number DELAY=seconds>
      <SOUND SRC=soundfile LOOP=INFINITE|number DELAY=seconds>
    A multitasking (MTOS, MagiC,...) system is required because GEMJing
    must run in the background.
  - If you also want that GEMJing plays all other sound files, you
    can also install GEMJing as 'viewer' for *.wav,au,snd,dvs.

   BTW: GEMJing is a normal GEM application, so you don't need CAB
   to play sound files.
