I found this little program a while ago on a German BBS; its purpose:
initialize the TOS 2.06 (ONLY TOS 2.06!) Floppy BIOS routines to /not/
double the seek rate as a default (which causes quite annoying grinding
noises on a non-HD-floppy).

Seekup.c is the original source code (german comments).
Seekupe.c is the same with english comments.
Seekup.prg is the executable program.

Simply put seekup.prg into your AUTO folder; it will take up _no_ memory
since it simply does an initializtion and then quits.

It works quite well on _my_ ST, but I couldn't test it yet with non-German
TOS ROMs; to test if it works with your ROMs, simply RUN it from the desktop
(preferably with your harddisk driver not loaded and after write-protecing
the floppy) and check if the floppy noise changed (by opening folders,
requesting "disk information" on a disk with many folders and so on) - if
it didn't change, seekup is probably incompatible to your ROM revision and
should not be used (it could in fact be hazardous to your data to use it...)

If any problem occurs, you might want to contact me:

by this program; look, I'm not even the author... :-))
