What is Never Mind Chaos ?
==========================

Never Mind Chaos aka NMC is an editor for saved games of the once
very popular Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back.

NMC is exclusively available for the Atari ST ;-)

Isn't such a program pretty senseless nowadays ?
================================================

Probably. The code has been sleeping on some floppy disk for several
years when I noticed that some activity was arising in the Atari ST
emulation scene, and after the first Dungeon Master fan sites popped
up I finally decided to prepare a '98 release and let this thing off...

Documentation
=============

Most things should be self-explanatory because I spent much time
creating a nice user interface - just point-and-click.

Use the right mouse button to select a character and to switch mode
when editing a level.

What can I change ?
===================

Characters: change name, portrait, skills, ...
Items:      add and remove items
Levels: change normal blocks <-> empty

Which save-games are supported ?
================================

Dungeon Master: 47710 and 47914 bytes
Chaos Strikes Back: 42815 bytes

Any caveats ?
=============

While crude alterations may crash Dungeon Master it usually runs
pretty well with changed save files.

Nevertheless you should avoid the following:
  - when assigning an item (with the same item id) to multiple characters,
    do not put the item on the floor. Also take care of thieves !
  - take care when changing levels - some objects (like doors) are not
    expected to be looked at from the side

Did you know ?
==============

Equip your crew with the not-activated firestaff and walk back to the
entrance in level 1...

Compatibility
=============

NMC is written in GFA Basic, so it's best run under plain TOS without
extensions such as MiNT, MultiTOS, MagiC, ...

For optimal viewing pleasure use the 640x400x2 (ST high) resolution.
640x200x4 (ST medium) is also supported. Higher resolutions may
work as well - use at your own risk.

What's new ?
============

Following the spirit of emulation I've only made some very minor changes
to the original '91 version - some MiNT related fixes (still not perfect
due to GFA limitations) and an update of my address.

All other things (like spelling errors) are left intact and won't get
fixed unless someone *really* wants it.
