These are the english add-ons for TosWin2 version 2.5.
This archiv contains only the english resource file, for
using TosWin2 you also need the german base archive (tw2-25.lzh)!!

 TosWin2 - A terminal emulator for N.AES
 ---------------------------------------

On multitasking environments it is necessary that the outputs of TOS programs
not directly to the display written but into a window are rerouted. This
function was already solved from the old versions from TosWin more or less
comfortably.
TosWin2 is an attempt to combine the different versions of TosWin 1.4 in only
one. The following old versions flowed into TosWin2:

 - the original of Eric Smith (version 1.4)
 - the extensions of Warwick Allison
 - the VT100-Emulator of Julian Coleman (TW100)

The most important difference to the old versions is the following:

 - TosWin2 does not run any longer as an accessory
 - TosWin2 requires N.AES or AES >=4.1

TosWin2 uses various AES extensions of the AES 4.1, without testing
explicitly on their presence. Additionally the GEMDOS call Pvfork() is
needed, which at present only under MiNT is available. Even if this call
should be available sometime under MagiC, an adjustment of TosWin2 at MagiC
would be possible.

 New in Version 2.5
 ------------------

 - Because TW2 does not emulate the complete VT52/VT100 command set the
terminal types have been changed to tw52/tw100 again.
 - Now you can drag and drop marked text regions into other windows.
 - Various bugfixes and corrections.

 Installation
 ------------

TosWin2 (base archive) comes with the following files:

 - toswin2.app program and resource (english rsc from tw2-23en.lzh)
   toswin2.rsc

 - tw-call.app TOS starter for AES 4.1

 - term/tcapinf terminal definitions by Petr Stehlik
 - term/test100.vt test file for the VT100 emulation, just dump it to
                     a shell window with `cat test100.vt`

 - hyp/* the german hypertext for ST-Guide
                     (no english version available yet)

 - xconout/* console-device for redirecting output into a window

To install TosWin2 put the files toswin2.app, toswin2.rsc and tw-call.app
into the same directory.
To tell N.AES where it find tw-call.app add the following line to naes.cfg:

   export TOSRUN=<full-path to tw-call.app>

If you want to start up TosWin2 at boot time, add another line to naes.cfg:

	run <full-path to toswin2.app>

The xconout device is used for redirecting outputs from the console into
a window of TosWin2. For installing it put it to your other device drivers
(e.g c:\mutlitos or c:\mint).
Only if the device is installed you can use the output-redirection to a
TosWin2 window (menu item 'Open console').

For TosWin2's shell-feature you'll need a password-file on /etc/passwd.
TosWin2 gets the users shell and home directory from this file when it starts
a login shell.
If you want to open a shell window at boot time, start TosWin2 with option
'-l' from naes.cfg.

Sorry, no more english documentation for TW2 available, yet!
