The PC games industry have always been plagued by joystick incompatibilities. Joystick drivers as such is not the solution - there are nearly more DOS joystick drivers and patches around than joysticks. It has to be a universal standard that supports existing game controllers, but at the same time be generic enough to cater for the advanced, multi button game controllers of the future.

A good joystick driver should be device-independent. It should be easy to install, easy to program and once the joystick driver is installed, games better not bug gamers with the frequently asked "Do you wish to use a joystick" and "Please calibrate". Think if you had to calibrate your mouse and keyboard each time you started game!

Gamers with different game controllers suffer with conventional Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 joystick drivers. Say for instance you have a gamepad for your arcade games and an analog steering wheel from a different manufacturer with pedals from yet another manufacturer. You have to install a joystick driver for each controller. The joystick drivers end up clashing, whereas UpJoy can handle different game controllers simultaneously.

Joki lets you program your joystick so that it can emulate any keypress. Joki can also improve joystick performance for Windows games that already have joystick support - just select keyboard as the controller type and let Joki do the work while you play!
