Review: Crumbles Crisis By Brendon Sly

Where to start ... how about the loading screen? It's a nice wee cartoon frame showing you the hero of the game, who I'm assuming is Crumble, with a clock and a little greebie (I never figured out what they were called) that appears to be Crumbles target.

The game starts and you find yourself controlling a little space-suit fellow in a platform game. You soon find that hitting most surfaces (and any monsters blocking your way) will hurt you, don't worry you can heal. The object of the game it to collect (rescue?) the 6 little greebies from the level without dying, easy ay?

No. It requires something resembling co-ordination and fine control, which can make the game quit hard at points. Oh, did I mention if you stay in a room for too long, you get hit by lighting? No? Oh well, you would have found that out for yourself.

The greebies will appear semi-randomly around the level, you'll get to know the spots after a few games. I've only got up to the third level myself but I've been told there could be as many as 10. The only thing that looks the same across levels is you: the scenery changes, the health power-ups look different and even the greebies look new.

Don't worry, if you die (which will happen) you are given the option to practice the level, this lets you get a feel for the layout without worrying about crashing into things or collecting greebies. A great way to get used to flying around and not worrying about colliding into every other object.

Overall a fun game, it can be a bit frustrating in parts, "I can't fly over this water pipe!" or "I can see that greebie but how to I get to it?", but it is rewarding when you finish a level.
