The Atari 1040STe took the ST line into a new realm of colored imagery and speed.   With 1mb of memory standard, built in 720K 3.5" disk drive that was MS-DOS format compatible.    Also with a new color pallete of 4096 colors the Atari 1040STe was a system that stood out among others such as the IBM AT, the Amiga 1000 and the Macintosh.
