The Atari Standalone Systems

Long before Atari began selling the Atari VCS 2600 system or the Atari 5200 SuperSystem, before the Atari 400/800 Computers and then the XL computers, Atari got its start in the home consumer market selling dedicated home video game entertainment products.   The first of these such products was Home Pong.   Atari had originally had planned on selling 50,000 Pongs for the home.   Sears came to Atari with an offer to sell the Pongs through Sears stores.   150,000 were sold in the Christmas of 1975, many people stood on line in the cold for 2 hours to get one.     This page lists many of the products which Atari sold in the 1970's.
