Vintage Computer Festival East 1.0

July 28th through July 29th, 2001
10:00am to 5:00pm daily
Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel & Trade Center
Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA

The Vintage Computer Festival has been a yearly event that has taken place over the last 4 years mostly out on the West Coast in California with new shows started in Europe.   This year marked the first ever VCF 1.0 "East" held in Massachusetts for all the East Coast fans.
While the show was smaller then the others due its first year and the rush to assemble the show while Sellam (the Shows founder and producer) still managed to maintain his bandwidth for taking care of the arrangements for the upcoming VCF 5.0 out on the West Coast as well as his intense efforts with salvage operations and rescues of Vintage computer systems (everything from rare micro's to huge Mainframes), so the show turned out a nice showing of about 100 people, some rather interesting and at times rather eyebrow raising speakers and a lot of fun all around.

Retro-Computing Societies DEC PDP/12

Nope, its not a Mazda Rotory Wankel engine.    Its a 14" platter hard drive...
Imagine the size of the laptop that would go into!!!  ;-)

There that hard drive again...   this time in front of a massive punch card
reader. (Rumour has it, this is the machine of choice for the next
presidential election for counting election cards!!! ;-)

Univac Card Entry workstation (Center)

Robert Stek and Christine Finn in front of Rob's impressive display to the left and Megan
Gentry's incredible PDP/11 Exhibit to the right.

Photo from the earlier hours on Saurday morning as exhibit tables and vendor tables are just
being setup and systems are being powered on and readied for demo's.

This display was simply amazing!!!   Its a D-116 Mini-computer with a scope connected to
it, on the screen is the original Space War which was controlled by flipping switches on
the front of the system to move the rockets left, right, thrust and fire, this was sooooo cool!!!!

Symbolics Minicomputer, impressive system even
just standing there and not even powered up yet.

One of the many tables setup by Tom Owad of www.apple-fritter.com

Uncommon Commodore exhibit...   Note the C116 and matching proto disk drive.

More of the Uncommon Commodore exhibit, in the corner is a prototype of
the unreleased DX-64 Portable.   Some source code from the boot prom is
displayed on the left screen.

Another photo of the Univac system as its being moved around and setup for display
