February 28, 1999 Update

Hi everyone,

First, I would like to apologize to everyone for the long lapse in updates here.   Personal life has been a tad bit hectic so I have not had much time to work on the site.   However for those with watchful eyes, you may have noticed several new items added to various parts of the site.    Also for all those who have been kind enough to send me corrections (especially in spelling, sorry everyone I usually do this stuff at 3am in the morning) I have them noted and will do the updates as soon as possible.

I also would like to apologize for the down-time experienced on February 24-26, we were in transition to our new IP server and access issue's arose with the new IP account, also we had 37MB of data to download and then upload and resync at 56K so it took a little while to get the site back up to full speed.   I would like to thank all the concerned individuals who emailed and also to the several former Atari employees who called my home over the past several days with concern about the site.   I want to thank everyone for all the great help, contributions and awareness everyone has towards the site!!!

The Atari Historical Society has the priviledge and pleasure of hosting the official Atari 25th anniversary reunion site.   The site is now available through the Atari Coin-Op/Arcade Section and also in the Atari Archives Section of the website.   Please stop by and have a look at some of the wonderful memories from the reunion.

We have several new arrivals as of late.  An original Atari Pong, Atari Super Pong Pro-Am Ten, a boxed Atari Telecommunicator II kit, an Atari Arcade Champ Kit, Atari Home Manager Kit, Atari Bookkeeper Kit, a boxed Atari 1200XL and an Atari 1450XL shortboard with prototype disk controller.   I would like to thank those individuals who have brought yet more of Atari's keepsakes under our roof.    These new additions will be cataloged and photographed in the comming days.

Stopped by and met with John and Keita at John's home all day long, they explained a great deal about what they have in mind for Classic Gaming Expo, showed me the hotel that will host the show and then it was time for some fun, I brought over tons of photocopies of internal Atari paperwork for John and Keita for use on their website and I let John at my box of unreleased prototypes such as Tempest 2600, Sinistar, Donald Duck and others, so while he was busy making archive copies of all the ROM's I donated for archive, Keita and I talked more about various things with the show as well as talking about some future trades and such, it was a nice day all in all.

Finally, work is completed on the Atari 2600 dealer demonstration kiosk from 1981.   Working with from very talented and caring people the kiosk is back to almost 100% perfect shape and a shipping crate will be built for the unit so that it can be shipped and set-up at the Classic Gaming Expo.

Well, that it for now, more information, images and surprises to come.

Sincerely,

Curt Vendel
