Well, I've returned from yet another adventurous trip out in wonderful California. This trip was rather unique in that I was asked to be part of a television program which will be airing in the weeks to come on KRON-4 San Francisco on a show called News Media hosted by Stan Bunger. It was a rather interesting day and a lot of fun sharing a great deal of Atari's history and touring several of Atari's famous buildings along Borregas Avenue including 1196. I was to be joining Nolan Bushnell in the show, however Nolan has been under the weather as of late and he needed some very well deserved rest.
While out in California I had arranged
for a small get together with several members of Atari's Industrial Design
group. Several people were unable to make it and I'm sure we
will all get together and spend another evening of fun, food and conversation
on a future trip. In the following weeks I will share
with everyone the wonderful stories, photo's, sketches and hardware I have
brought back with me and will catalog and add into the Atari Historical
Society museum. Some of the items are:
The Atari 2900
The Atari 3000 (nope, not the Graduate but another super console).
The Atari Sierra 68000
The Atari 1600XL
The only AD ever produced for the 1090XL Expansion system.
The Atari 1029
The Atari 800 creme colored Joystick
The Atari 800 TV switchbox
Never before seen concept sketches of a whole new line of Atari portable
and laptop computers
More photo's of never before scene AtariTel telephone designs
Never before seen early hand drawn artist pieces of Atari Artwork including
the actual Atari 2600 AIRWORLD artwork.
Of course none of this could possibly be complete without some great
new history notes from personal stories by our ever growing team of former
and present Atari employees who have gone out of their way to help bring
all of this information, imagery and personal touch to these projects and
products for everyone to enjoy.
