August 14, 1999 Update:

Hi everyone, normally August is associated with the lazy days of summer, nothing much going on except perhaps relaxing by the pool and trying to stay cool in the hot summer heat.   Well things are anything but calm here at the Atari Historical Society.    (I want to thank Karl from KAvideo for use of his D-2, 1" and 3/4" equipment for conversions) We just finished a 27 minute VHS cassette filled with raw footage and full commercials of the Atari Lynx Portable Color Videogame which were never available until now.   They were shipped off to B&C Computervisions for sale at www.myatari.com.    Two of the shorter 10 sec commercials will be available by Monday in the Atari Movies section of the website for downloading.     We are awaiting approval from Hasbro on the Atari Jaguar notes so that they can be released to everyone on the web for downloading.

Next thats new on the site is a very big surprise.    For the first time, pictures of a complete, fully assembled and working Atari Cosmos 3D Holographic tabletop game.    There have been images on the web of the Cosmos before, but of the three known Cosmos games out there, they have all be empty plastic shell mockups like the one shown last year at the World of Atari 98' show.    The Atari Historical Society has the only known fully working Cosmos, and all 8 of the holographic games.   To see actual screen shots and the inside of the Cosmos to see what makes a 3D holographic game tick, check on the Atari Standalone Consoles section of the site and select Atari Cosmos.

Now for one of the most odd and never known Atari products to ever have been seen.   The Atari vidcom I communication device.   A handheld unit to allow communication for the hearing/speech impaired.   Atari's silent entry into the Healthcare field which was quickly withdrawn and lay quietly buried.... until now.   Have a look at the Atari Healthcare Systems link in the Other Atari Projects section.

Tomorrow night, look in the Atari Archives and Atari Computers-8bit sections for additional releases of the Atari GTIA and POKEY chipset technical data files and schematics.    Also look for technical specs on the Atari 1030/1035 modems.    With all these new data files starting to be published to the web for everyone to read and use, an all new sister site will be set-up in the comming weeks, look for the all new Atari Archive Center at http://www.atariarchive.com and also to help people access our main website here more easily, we now have an additional new link which will be available shortly:

http://www.atarimuseum.com

Look for more information and updates to follow shortly...
