Review: Buried Bucks By Stephen Knox

Buried Bucks is a simple Get the Treasure safely and return to base kind of game. Things start off simple enough, you have a helicopter loaded with earth destroying bombs. There are 3 bags of money buried under the ground from which you need to carve a tunnel, retrieve and return to base.

You have 3 enemies working against you; "earth" bomber, water and gunner sites. The "earth" bomber is a plane flying above who works feverously to replace the earth destroyed by your bombing. The "earth" bomber also drops a gunner's nest which fires back at you.
In later levels underground aqua ducts appear which can flood your tunnels if your not careful with your destruction. Describing this game may not be enough to differentiate it from other games in a similar genre but what got me hooked is the smooth fast gameplay. Its hard to describe the fun strafing the earth with a cluster bomb effect, cussing out the plane filling your tunnels, having to build a tunnel the goes underneath water spots and removing 'flat spots' where the gunner sites can land. This very easily could've been translated into an arcade IMHO.

I highly recommend this game for any Atari 8bit collector.
