The Art of Atari (Part 3)

This is the original artwork for what was initially going to be called Nile Flyer and was later changed to Desert Falcon for the Atari 7800 ProSystem.

We've saved the best for last as you will see by this picture and the ones following below.   This artwork is titled "Pam Asteroids" This is the unreleased artwork for the Atari 5200 cartridge CX-5201 Asteroids.

Now here is probably one of the nicest pieces of artwork of the entire group.    This very detailed and brilliant rendition of one of Atari's all time favorite games, Tempest may have been for the unreleased Atari 5200 version or perhaps for a never started version for the Atari computers of Atari 7800 Prosystem.  Most likely is appears to be the artwork for the 3 unreleased Atari 2600 Tempest cartridges known to exist, one of which is part of the Atari Historical Society library.

This piece of Atari artwork is an unfinished Battlezone background.   All that is really missing is the title Battlezone on it.    This artwork was used for Ad Posters for the extremely popular Atari coin-op game.

This appears to be an unfinished piece of artwork for the coin-op game Warlords.   Its uncertain if this was to be used as a different version of artwork for the Upright version of the coin-op.   The poster artwork for Warlords as well as the artwork on the Atari 2600 boxes differ from this unfinished piece of work.    Again, perhaps this may have been for some future home version of the game.

Now here is an interesting piece of artwork.   Since no Atari coin-op currently is available with these characters in it, this may have been some artwork suggestions for a prototype game which may have never been released.    The Atari Historical Society would love to hear from anyone from Atari (past or present) who may be able to tell us what this artwork and who these characters were for.
