May 27, 1999 Update:

I've been having several conversations this week with Allan Acorn and Allan has told me quite a bit more regarding the original Pong that was placed in Andy Capps back in 1972, also Allan plans on taking some pictures of the original unit which unlike the more well know Pong coin-op was actually a small 1/2 height sized unit that sat ontop of a barrel.     Also Allan has filled me in on more details of the fabled Cosmos Holoptics table top game system and its microprocessor so those details will be added to Cosmos page shortly.    Also Allan informed me that the actual original Atari VCS prototype had been thrown away in the trash at one point and Owen Rubins saved it and Allan is the honored caretaker of this other important piece of Atari history.   With hope Allan may also provide the Atari Historical Society with images of the original VCS prototype as well.

Garth Chouteau of the PGL was kind enough to let me know that WIRED magazine did an article about the Pong match this past weekend at XS New York and they were kind enough to mention that the Atari Historical Society provided a recently fully restored Pong coin-op to the PGL tournament.     We have several photo's of the restoration of the Pong coin-op which I have to tell you was a lot of fun restoring, it is a simply yet very elegant machine and it was a thorough pleasure to have brought it back to its glory.   Look for updates in the Atari coin-op section regarding the Pong and its restoration.
