Hi everyone, sorry for the long delay between updates on the site. I've been down with some pretty painful back/shoulder problems and although I've been trying to keep up with the emails to and from everyone, keeping up the work on the site is a lot more difficult since I have to pickup and move things around which is not on my list of allowed activities lately. Well I'm feeling a bit better this weekend so I've started to get back to work on things.
Some of the new additions to the site are the new Atari 2600 main page. I wanted to do a new opening graphic, and also compact the size of the animation on that page to make it load quicker. So go have a look. Also in the Atari 2600 menu you'll find the addition of some Atari Ad's as well, I hope everyone enjoys those.
In the Atari Coin-op Section I've begun adding full sized flyer links to each of the graphics. Thanks to a loan of flyers from Brian Wiklems extensive Atari coin-op flyer collection I have scanned in several missing flyers which I will be adding into the section. So keep checking that section of the site for more new coin-op additions. On a sad note, the Atari Stunt Cycle and 2 other Atari coin-ops that were comming up from someone in Atlanta have met with some unfortunate fate and were destroyed so I am currently searching for an Atari Stunt Cycle, Video Pinball and Breakout to fill in the missing holes due to this tragedy.
The Atari Portfolio handheld section has had an entirely new facelift done to it, all new images and additional information has been added as well as the actual Wall Street Journal ad that announced the Atari Portfolio to the world, some really nice images, so check it out.
Awaiting approval from Hasbro's Atari Interactive division, we have ready to post an Adobe PDF document which contains several dozen pages of debugging log's on the Atari Jaguar, GASM and TOM & Jerry chipset. I hope this information is of use to the Jaguar programming community.
Still on the way are the remaining PDF documents for the Atari POKEY and GTIA chipset which Hasbro's Atari Interactive has released use to put into public domain as well. Look for a large amount of updates into the Atari ST section with some great new images of all the various models and products, as well as a section that many have been asking to have put up for the Atari ATW800 Transputer.
Lets see... Now for the good stuff so to speak. On Friday I had lunch with the former head of Engineering for Atari's New York Lab under Steve Mayer and he disclosed quite a bit of information regarding the original design of the Atari 2500 (The CX-2000 "VAL") as well as the initial designs for what became the Atari 600XL and 800XL after the huge mess-up with the release of the Atari 1200XL system so that is all comming for next week.
Now for some real interesting news, the Atari Cosmos 3D Holographic tabletop
game system. I have been in contact with the company
that was contracted by Atari to produce the holograms for the Atari Cosmos
and although an initial run of photo's didn't come out as well as hoped,
I'm working on taking a new set of photo's with a different type of non-reflect
lighting which should yield clean and sharp images of all 8 Atari Holoptic
games for the Cosmos, plus photographs of the inside of the only complete
and working Atari Cosmos system, so those are all comming in the following
week or two, so look for them.
